Lucky awoke to the sound of slender tails swishing. The aroma of musty hay swirled around her head and tiny sticks prodded her fur. The small holes in the wooded roof of the barn let the sun pour in and warm her pelt. Suddenly, the sound of yowling kits rings through her ears as her siblings rush past the hay bail she was napping on with increasing speed. Her mother padded up to the hay and put her paws on the hay. "What are you sleeping for, Lucky? It's a beautiful day! You should come outside and play with the rest of your brothers and sisters."
Lucky sat her head on her paws and sighed. "It's so nice here..." She said as she turned onto her back, paws sprawling in the air.
"You need to get outside. You can't simply stay cooped up in the barn your whole life like a over-fed, lazy old chicken."
Lucky sighed once more and let out a groan. "Fine…" She leaped down from her perch and followed her mother. She decided to start a conversation, though it wasn't entirely her forte. "I've heard cat's have nine lives… Is that true, mom?"
"For some cats it can be, for others… Not so much. Some are mostly healthier than others."
Lucky padded alongside her mother, contemplating what she had just said to the young kitten. Though not too good at conversations, she always liked to ask intriguing questions, even if sometimes their just out of the blue.
The two cats soon made it outside and into the field. Kittens flew every which way. Their little bodies soared as they jumped. It looked like they were having a lot of fun. Lucky looked at her mother, as if waiting for an 'okay'.
Her mother laughed a bit. "Go ahead." She nudged Lucky's back leg, urging her onward.
Lucky steadily paced forward. She cautiously looked around until she found Snake. She stalked up behind him and pounced onto his back. He turned around quickly to see  a slender blue tail swirl around with him. Snake was a dark green cat, with a fluffy black tail and orange spots down his back. "Hello, Lucky."
"How'd you know it was me?" Lucky gasped as she slid down his back.
"Your bright coat would alert a blind cat." He said smartly, while shaking his flank to settle his fur back against his dark body.
"Hey!"
"Don't worry, someday, you'll be as smart as me!" Snake boasted.
"We're only a year apart! I'm already catching up!" She cried as she crouched down again, readying herself to pounce on the powerful cat.
Snake caught a glance at Lucky right before she jumped and casually slid aside. Lucky then landed awkwardly on the ground. She growled quietly at Snake. She wasn't angry, for it was just a playful growl. Snake sensed her playful aura and waited for her to leap again. Soon Lucky did jump, but she did it so silently, that it caught Snake off guard and he tumbled to the ground from her force. Lucky's paws spread out over his shoulders and Snake lay on the ground. Lucky stood triumphantly on his back. She may have been younger then Snake, but her strength could come in good use when she needed it. Snake was a very powerful cat, she could feel his muscles flexing beneath her paws.
Snake, still in shock from the attack, lay on his stomach, his face red from the embarrassment of being defeated by a mere kitten, let alone his younger sister!  His head was propped up on one paw, his face unimpressed. Lucky, on the other hand, was excited and glowing from winning against her older brother. Snake rolled over and dumped her off, smiling a little. He spied something out of the corner of his eye; Ben, Lucky's twin sister, was heading over from just recently playing with the sheep. Her blue fur matted and twirling every which way. She looked as if she was trying to imitate a sheep herself!
Lucky looked up and followed Snake's gaze to see her younger sister, Ben, walking over. In back of her, a sheep was carrying two other kittens on its back, each kit mewling with delight.  "Howdy there, Ben!" Lucky hollered.
"Ba-aa-ah!" She responded. She was acting like a sheep!
"Baa-ah!" Lucky giggled as Ben bounced over. Soon the two kittens were singing, and dancing, and jumping all around. Snake sat on the sidelines with his mother, both cats eyes filled with pride as they watched all the kittens play and joke with one another.
Yay for chapter one! I hope to get chapter two up soon. What do you think? :)
